It is with sadness that we learn't of the death of Rabbi Ephraim Groundland, 76, in Jerusalem from a brain tumour.

Rabbi Groundland for many years lead the Ashkenazi Yamim Noraim services here in Marbella. He was extremely popular in our synagogue with his charismatic, humorous and interesting way of leading our services.

Rabbi Groundland travelled the globe raising money for the Israel anti-missionary organisation, Pe'ilim. Previously he was a minister from 1959 for 17 years in Manchester's Higher Prestwich Synagogue.

He leaves a wife Chana, two daughters and two sons.

The President, the Managing Board and the whole Jewish Community of Marbella wants to send their condoleances to the family.
